In response to a couple of posts.It is a "myth" that purple martins eat a lot 
of mosquitos. They catch their prey high in the air whereas mosquitos stay 
pretty close tothe ground. Barn Swallows on the other hand probably are the 
best mosquito eaters.Our Purple Martins are seen most often feeding chicks with 
butterflies, moths and dragon flies/damselflies.George
