From Dr. Clint Boal, TTU:
Interested in urban wildlife and conservation in Lubbock?
From 10am - noon on 10 July, I will be at Tech Terrace Park in Lubbock to
give an open-air, public presentation about Mississippi Kites; followed by a
guided 'watching' period in which I and students will use spotting scopes to
allow close up views of kites. The presentation will be informal about the
species ecology, why they are present in Lubbock, and how to live with them
as enjoyable 'watchable wildlife' in our city parks. I will be happy to (try)
to answer any other raptor or urban wildlife related questions attendees
might have. We will also have a guest appearance by Sterling, the
Mississippi Kite that is an ambassador from the South Plains Wildlife
Rehabilitation Center.
This is a free event and open to all interested people. Come out for a
pleasant morning in the park and learn about one of our 'wild' neighbors.
