Congratulations, Jim, that is one heck of a milestone.

Hi All,
I went to the spot that Joe described and was able to find and confirm the
American Tree Sparrow. I have one photo, not particularly good, but does
show the bicolored bill, rufous cap, rufous line behind eye, and rufous color
along the breast and flanks. I also observed no streaks on the breast and
flanks. I posted the photo on eBird.
Of importance to me, this is my 300th bird species for Lubbock County!

I was looking at a small group of sparrows at McAlister park between Carpet
One and the Playa. One of them had a solid rufous crown and a rufous
eye-stripe with almost no markings on the breast and belly. My first
impression was American Tree Sparrow. I looked at any other possibilities
and I keep coming back to that. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a picture
of it and I couldn't relocate it after my initial sighting even after 30
minutes of circling around the same area. Maybe someone else can find it to
confirm
