Fascinating! Good thing Brad was with me when we encountered one below lake 6 
in the spring. Turns out the fast rattle (of a young snake anyway) sounds like 
an insect to me. I probably would have to gotten bit if I was by myself! Stay 
on the trail, Jennifer! :)

By changing the frequency of its rattling, these venomous snakes let intruders 
know when they’re too close.
