Mountain Bluebirds will not have the chestnut (red) color. Since this bird has
chestnut breast and sides it is either a Western or Eastern Bluebird. The grey
sides to the neck suggests it is a Western Bluebird.

Well... I thought this was a female Mountain Bluebird because it was so pale
and gray/buff on the head, back and neck. I’d looked in both of my field
guides and on online field guides. However, I put it on iNaturalist and
someone else said it was a Western. If this is correct, what did I miss? I
don’t have a lot of experience with Bluebirds. Thanks for everyone’s
expertise. It’s great having you guys to come to. Thanks!
