I birded campus from 8:15 to 9:00 this morning, easily relocating the
Black-throated Gray Warbler that Peter Keyel found yesterday. I even
managed a couple of acceptable photographs.
I also had at least two Hermit Thrushes, at least three really goofy
looking Cedar Waxwings (some kind of molt issue), a Cassin's
Sparrow(!), at least seven Lesser Goldfinches, a continuing
Grasshopper Sparrow, a few Chipping Sparrows, lots of Clay-colored
Sparrows, at least three Spotted Towhees, a continuing Yellow-breasted
Chat, lots of Orange-crowned Warblers, a couple of Nashville Warblers,
and a Wilson's Warbler.
As I type this, I can actually see, from my fifth floor window, more
birds dropping into the oaks - there are, evidently, a lot of bugs
left to nosh on:) Enough to draw a Cooper's Hawk - which just dropped
in. This is as extemporaneous as bird reporting gets!
