Hi,
There's a spot in northwest Lubbock county that during periods of voluminous
rain becomes a temporary wetland. If you drive west on 19th Street, take a
right at Research Boulevard, and in about a half mile on your left you'll see
it. The road shoulder is small but sufficient, on this lightly traveled road.
Choose your spots.
Yesterday on a short visit I saw:
3 Black-Necked Stilts7 Shovelers1 Green Winged Teal1 GadwallOne pair of
Blue-Winged Teal and one pair (Yes!) of Cinnamon Teal.
Also, and this is really cool, I head lots of frogs. Or were they toads? I
heard them but didn't see them.
There's not a lot of reasons to be out in that area, but if you happen to be,
check it out. It's rather full, and we've had more rain. I think it gets more
interesting when the water subsides a bit.
