Greetings All: In anticipation of upcoming weather, I decided to get the weekly visit to Clapp Park in today. I spent two hours at the still, given the amount of water in the playas, surprisingly slow site, noting only 26 species with but a single highlight: a male Common Yellowthroat in the weeds along the west edge of the largest portion of the playa. I did manage to add three species to my cumulative list for the park this year, bringing it up to 58 - Northern Harrier, Savannah Sparrow, and - FINALLY - White-crowned Sparrow. At this rate, vis-a-vis our little competition, my end of February list at Clapp Park will - maybe - catch up with Rich Kostecke's end of January list at Lake Devine Park.
