While working in Hale County today I saw the following birds:
Mallard 6
Blue winged Teal ~25
American Coot 2
White-faced Ibis 40
American Avocet 12
Black-necked Stilt 5
Least Sandpiper 4
Wilson's Phalarope ~120 (these birds were scattered
throughout several playas and seemed to be observed on "blue" water playas
as opposed to murky or turbid playas)
Great Blue Heron 3
Black-crowned Night Heron 15
Cattle Egret ~50 (Again scattered
throughout the county)
Swainson's Hawk 2
Burrowing Owl 8
American Kestrel 1
Loggerhead Shrike 1
Dickcissel 1
Blue Grosbeak 1
Ring-necked Pheasant 9 (7 of these were young birds)
Lots of birds seen incidental to our work but probably lots more missed.
