The American Tree Sparrow continues to be at McAlister Park. I originally
located it just SW of Carpet One in the drainage area with the culverts. It
has a very distinctive chipping call – probably it’s alarm call. It was in
the weeds between the pond and the parking lot. As I was watching, it flew
to the area NW of Carpet One where it’s been located several times before.
It was loosely associated with a Lincoln’s Sparrow and at least one Song
Sparrow. They were all foraging on the ground amongst the tall weeds. A
Kestrel flew in and they all got quiet but I did confirm that it’s still in
the area.
