The cold and rainier season didn’t keep LCT-LATAM from meeting last Friday.
This time, we had the pleasure to listen to Carolina and Sebastian from the UTP
(Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira, Colombia) and their research about
clinical argumentation in medicine school.
Sebastian and Carolina raised the issue that the medicine teaching field is a
teacher-oriented practice, and there is little focus on the student. So, they
focused on the difficulties of teaching practices and critical thinking. And to
view this, their qualitative approach centers on Autonomy Tours on how students
learn during real clinical cases.
During the discussion, we talked about the role of the researcher, and how they
intervene during the research. We also talked about the pedagogical practice
and the sometimes hostile environment inside medical classrooms. Carolina and
Sebastian regard LCT and autonomy tours as an innovative approach to medical
education, and we wish Carolina and Sebastian success.
