While running errands yesterday afternoon in Newport I stopped by Yaquina
Head to briefly check on the status of common murres. The numbers in the
water just west of the breeding colonies was very impressive with tens of
thousands present. I assume they had been knocked off the rocks earlier by
eagles. Here’s a view of a small portion of the flock.
