Good Morning Pensacola SQL Server User Group,

Hope all of you had a safe and fun 4th of July. In case you haven't been
out the website, I wanted to remind everyone that the next meeting will be
Thursday, July 29th at 6:30 at Heritage Hall. We will have the following
two presentations that evening:

Meeting Topic: The Art of Indexing presented by Ken Simmons

Description: Creating indexes can be one of the most useful performance
gains you can add to your database. However, having too many indexes can
hurt performance as well as require additional space and maintenance time.
The introduction of Dynamic Management Views has made indexing easier;
however, there are still many tactics you need to be aware of when
applying indexes. This session will cover strategies such as discovering
and applying missing indexes, finding and removing overlapping indexes,
and indentifying rarely used indexes that are expensive to maintain.

Speaker Bio: Ken is a database administrator, developer, and Microsoft SQL
Server MVP. He is the Author of Pro SQL Server 2008 Administration
(Apress, 2009), Pro SQL Server 2008 Mirroring (Apress, 2009), and Pro SQL
Server 2008 Policy-Based Management (Apress, 2010). He has been working in
the IT industry since 2000 and currently holds certifications for MCP,
MCAD, MCSD, MCDBA, MCTS for SQL 2005, and MCITP for SQL 2008.

ALSO

Meeting Topic: CMS using Kentico, ASP.NET, and & SQL Server presented by
Bryan Soltis

Description: Dynamic, continuously changing data drives the internet.
Companies are constantly modifying their content to deliver relevant and
focused information to their users. A CMS-driven site allows for site
owners to keep up with the pace of technology quickly and efficiently. The
Kentico CMS Content Management system is a powerful, robust .NET platform
for delivering dynamic, content-driven sites. This presentation will be an
overview of the Kentico CMS system, an in-depth presentation of content
updates using the system, integration of other .NET technologies, & SQL
Server databases.

Speaker Bio: Bryan is a Senior Software Engineer and Certified Kentico
Trainer at Bit-Wizards Custom Solutions, Inc. in Fort Walton Beach, FL.
With over 10 years of development experience, Bryan has completed projects
of all types, focusing primarily on web-based technologies and has created
several sites using the Kentico CMS platform, as well as other content
management systems. Bryan has integrated Silverlight, Flash, web services,
and other components in to Kentico-driven sites.

We hope to see you all there!

Cheers,
Karla and Rodney
