Thanks to Sheila for forwarding the letter from Kenya. It gives the
official and formal description of what I had mentioned on one of our
zooms. Once these groups come up with direct links for credit card
donations, I'll send out the links.
It is of *great significance* that the three major Quaker groups in
East Africa have come together to identify problems that are within
their abilities to address. [Friends United Meeting (FUM), Friends Church
Kenya (FCK) and Friends World Committee on Cosultation-African
Secction (FWCC-AS).]
The hospital in Lugulu serves desperate needs. When I was there in
2017 most doctors were on strike but our Lugulu Hospital was one of the few
that remained open was serving the population.
Mt Elgon has witnessed serious fighting and atrocities. I encourage my
students to turn their phones off, especially at night, to rest and avoid
pastor-burn-out. But the ones in Mt. Elgon have to keep their phones on in
case they need to flee for their lives.
Unfortunately no matter what I try, this listserve is not allowing me
to send photos of Lugulu Hospital.
