I've heard through DC Sanctuary that the Franciscan Action Network is
organizing a " Fast & Prayer for the DREAM Act" between Aug. 30 & Sept. 5.
People sign up to fast & pray on a certain day to support (& draw attention to)
the fight to protect DACA ( Deferred Childhood Arrival Program, which allows
immigrants brought here as young children to avoid deportation).
Trump is threatening to terminate DACA, which wd put 800,000 young adult
"DREAMers" at risk of immediate deportation. It's crucial to support them now.
I plan to sign up to fast/pray for a day to support the fight for DACA, but
would much rather do it with a few--or many-- people b/c it wd feel more
spiritually powerful.
**Would anyone in the Meeting like to do this w/ me?** It would involve picking
a day b/w 8/30 & 9/5 that we would fast (or do our best) til sundown & doing
prayer/ meditation for the situation of DACA & DREAMers. We cd try to meet to
pray tog. during that day or just know we're all doing it on the same day. I'm
flexible-- & wd love some spiritual company in this.😊 💓
