This coming Monday night, March 7, at 7:00 PM we will have a watch party
featuring the award-winning Bayard Rustin documentary that will be discussed
during Second Hour on March 27th. ("Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard
Rustin").
We are asking that everyone who can to watch the movie first, because there
will not be time on the 27th to screen it. The film is 84 minutes long, and
there will be no discussion afterwards so that all who attend that evening can
"cast anchor on blanket bay" at a decent hour.
For those of you who have not heard my pre-announcements, Bayard Rustin was an
African American Quaker who was one of the great unsung heroes of the early
stages of the Civil Rights Movement in America. He has been called the
architect of the March on Washington in 1963, and he was a major figure in
mentoring Martin Luther King, Jr. on the use of non-violence as a highly
promising strategy for achieving broad-based social change.
