The Climate Working Group is going to try our first virtual Second Hour on
Sunday April 5 at our fellowship time after worship starting at 11:30 am.
Emily Wirzba from FCNL has agreed to reschedule her cancelled March climate
talk to do it by Zoom. With our growing experience with Zoom for worship,
"cafe" lunches, committee meetings, and even Friendly 8s and soon Business
Meeting (April 19), we think the Second Hour will be a success!

Emily will speak to the changing political climate on Capitol Hill related
to climate legislation (and how changed by the COVID-19 pandemic) including:
- The organization and membership of congressional caucuses dealing with
climate change
- Proposed approaches to Carbon Pricing
- Reduction of Federal subsidies for the fossil fuel industry
- Status of the Green New Deal
- Keys to effective interaction with local members of Congress on climate
issues, including visits, phone calls, letters, emails, texts, and tweets
If time permits, Emily will also provide information on the climate related
activities of other Friends Meetings, locally and across the country, so we
can learn and be encouraged by each other’s engagement and action.
