This morning two rather vocal SOLITARY SANDPIPERS were foraging in a vernal
pool in the Coyote Creek South unit of Fern Ridge WMA, in good view from
outside the gate along the south side of Cantrell Road, about 200 yards
west of K.R. Nielsen Road. This is getting close to the end of the window
when spring migrants can be expected in the Willamette Valley.

At least two GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS can regularly be heard singing from that
vantage point, if you get there early enough in the morning (7 or 8 AM).
There are also many Savannah Sparrrows singing there, for comparison.
