Sailors,

Welcome to our listserv! I want to especially welcome our Roosevelt and Hale
students who are new to this list.

Caution: You can reply to this email, but all of us will get it. Share with
us your experiences building and sailing your boats - we appreciate the
feedback!

But email info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx if you only want to email me or
Sailing Through School. Thanks!

Mark your calendars

The Whitman Landsailing Team is excited to host our 2nd official 2005-2006
event Saturday, December 3rd.

Who: STUDENT DRIVERS from

AS#1, Ballard, Hale, Roosevelt, Whitman (students, friends, coaches,
parents.)

What: December R/C Landsailing Event

Where: Whitman Middle School (Mapquest
<http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&addtohis
tory=&searchtab=home&address=9201+15th+Ave+NW&city=Seattle&state=WA&zipcode=
98117> Map)

When: Saturday, December 3rd

Time: 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM

Goal: To have at least six (6) "student drivers" from each school bringing
three (3) landsailers. If my math is correct, we would then see fifteen (15)
Speedygo II landsailers at the event. If your boats aren't finished yet.TIME
FOR BOATWORK! The more you sail, the more you learn!

Schedule:

10:30 AM - 11:30 AM: Open Sailing

11:30 AM - NOON: This month's program - Tips & Tricks to go
FAST; Basic Racing Strategy; Basic Sailing Rules

NOON -12:30 PM: Lunch (bring $3 per person if you want to buy
into some pizza)

12:30 PM - 1:30 PM: Racing

[From this event onwards, each school is expected to bring all three of
these landsailers to each event. Loaners will not be available.]

Students:

1. Prepare your boats for competition - try to avoid unnecessary
breakdowns.
2. Name your boats and make it visible on the chassis and/or sail.
3. Be sure to come to the event :-)

Prizes will be awarded for: best school turnout, best boat design, best boat
name, and best racing team for the day.

More info about the racing will come later. We will always have some racing
because it's fun to race and you learn FAST by racing. We will tally scores
through June and recognize achievement regularly.

Hope to see you there!

Coach Staheli

PS - Landsailing at Sand Point is scheduled for the December 4th. May I
suggest that we move it (for December only) from Sand Point to the UW
Montlake parking lot? Acres of beautifully smooth cement - the stuff dreams
are made of! More info and directions to come.
