The section titled “Special Education” launched late last week and includes 72 applications for the iPhone and 13 applications for the iPad in 10 categories ranging from communication to emotional development and life skills, according to Trudy Muller, an Apple spokeswoman. The special education category is currently showcased as one of four editorial features in the App Store. Apps, which can be used on Apple’s iPhone, iPad or iPod devices, have become increasingly popular in the special needs community in recent years, serving as everything from assistive technology devices to organizational tools and teaching aids. ------------------------------------------------------------ Differention Daily Help for teachers reach & teach all learners in K-12 classrooms http://differentiationdaily.com/ A new website each day to help teachers reach & teach all learners in K-12 classrooms. This blog is written by Paula Kluth, a researcher, consultant, and presenter interested in differentiating instruction, active learning, and inclusive schooling. She has worked as a special education teacher, an inclusion facilitator, and as a professor of education (most recently at Syracuse University). Thinking guides support the thinking or working through of an issue, topic or question and help to shape, define and focus an idea and also support the planning required to investigate it further. Exploratree guides can be used as a basis for whole class discussion, or emailed to individuals or groups to complete. They can also be used as a presentation tool to share your findings and thinking with others.
