We need to update our comparison of a standard FE car to an EV like a leaf. I
completed a GREET analysis using TVA's grid mix about a decade ago, and I need
to revise. I'll work on as I can and share later.

Subject: [knoxev] Project "FUD Fighter"
Now that the Biden administration has proposed an infrastructure bill that
emphasizes EVs, something very predictable is beginning to occur...the
politicization and outright demonization of EVs is going into Ludicrous Mode
(pardon the Tesla pun).
In KEVA we have members who are Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. We
know that transitioning to EVs should be a nonpartisan issue. Unfortunately,
like almost everything else these days, EVs are becoming just one more front in
our increasingly uncivil political war. Of course EVs have always been
somewhat politically controversial, but the intensity of the controversy is
definitely rising.
Not surprisingly, the purveyors of FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) have
increased their efforts to spread as much misinformation as they possibly can.
And their efforts are having an effect. My own brother, a highly educated and
intelligent person who leans to the political left, asked me recently if EVs
really are better for the environment because he had come across some
information saying otherwise.
To help combat the FUD that is becoming ever more pervasive, I propose that we
begin collecting good "FUD Fighters" that we can share easily with family and
friends, especially when they ask for our help.
I define a good "FUD Fighter" as an article or video that takes less than 10
minutes to read/watch and is free from a lot of technical jargon.
When you find one, please put FUD Fighter in the subject line and share it with
the group.
I'll go first. Here is one I came across just today:
https://blog.ucsusa.org/dave-reichmuth/three-truths-about-electric-vehicles
And, yes, I'll be sharing that article with my brother :-)
Thanks!
