We're bringing our Bolt into the dealership tonight for the start of the recall
process. I am documenting the entire process, but so far, the representative
confirmed, "there is no set time for when a proper fix will be available."

I should mention that my motivation for sharing these stories is not to slam
non-Tesla EVs, but to illustrate that designing & producing EVs is a lot harder
than most realize. All these CNBC/Seeking Alfalfa commentators say “competition
is coming for Tesla,” but they think an EV is just a another car. Which is why
their investment advice is just noise. At best.
I would love to have good, solid EVs from legacy car makers, but it probably
ain’t gonna happen—each EV they make uses ICE chassis tech, their software is a
motley collection of many separate external off-the-shelf packages from 3rd
party suppliers and, most important, they don’t collect driving data to design
& build better cars AND factories. And they cannot yet sell their EVs at a
profit, if ever.
Oh, and then there is the looming issue of legacy car dealerships…
The vast majority of people are not prepared for the coming disruption in
transportation, especially on the overall economy. And even less prepared for
what’s coming in green energy.
