There's not much history. It was ageeable at the beginning and it stuck.
Personally, I have n objection to changing it. I do like Saturday though.

Is there a reason the club meets on the second Saturday of the month? If
not would another Saturday work as well? The reason I ask is I have a
commitment on second Saturday of each month and so it will be rare that I
could make it to a meeting.
But with me being 100 miles away I can not commit to being a regular
attendee but as it is now I will be a very infrequent attendee.
