All,
Let me chime in here. We selected the Turkey Creek location for a couple of
reasons:
1. We manage another NDEW event that takes place at Neyland Stadium. That
event does NOT allow us to do ride n drives, nor allow us to have any EV owner
to come show up and join us to work towards facilitating gathering a LARGE
group of EVs. Bob Harris' event in Pigeon Forge is similar in that he can only
fit some many vehicles in the space allotted. The Turkey Creek site has room
for as many EVs as we can get to show up. (The Neyland event is held because we
get the chance to interact with LOTS of people who are already at a site - we
go to them, they don't have to come to us.)
2. Is was in a widely visited part of the region, thus attending would be
easy for many citizens as they know where it is.
3. It was free... at first. In year 1, we operated under the thinking
"beg forgiveness instead of asking permission" and didn't contact the parking
management company. We (Eric and I) decided to contact them the following year
to be more up-front with our request and so that we would be being more careful
in our decision making. That lead to some good discussions, a new relationship
with the parking authority, and I think a fee of $150 that I believe was
negotiated down from $250 (and that ETCleanFuels paid for).
We are at a point where we need KEVA to take on a larger role in helping manage
the larger of the two Knoxville events. I am completely open to what the KEVA
members think is the best Knoxville site based on working to a) get the most
attendees and visibility and b) butts in seats test driving EVs. Many of you
know that many EVs sell themselves if the people are there to listen... we also
need more help getting the warm bodies there to listen. We can help in a number
of ways and are willing to cover the cost of the site if that cost is kept
relatively small. If the July meeting is this coming Saturday, I believe I can
attend. Apologies for my lateness here but I've been at the beach for the last
8 days.
Peace
Jonathan

I don't think this was discussed at the June meeting because nobody knew of it.
As Melissa mentioned, Eric was the coordinator last year, so since he is in
Colorado, we'll need someone to take the lead on this if we want to
participate. As far as I remember, it was simply scheduling cars to be there.
Maybe Eric can elaborate on what he had to do last year. NDEW week is
September 9-17, 2017. The web site with more info is
https://driveelectricweek.org/ It looks like someone has already done the ;
first step in getting a TBD event registered for Knoxville, so the first step
might be following up on that.

Greetings all,
I will be back in Knoxville this weekend. Please read the attached email.
Does someone already have this started? I wasn't at the meeting last.

Hey Patrick,
I hope your week has gone well and that you're ready to enjoy a fun Fourth of
July weekend!
Over the past several years, ETCleanFuels has primarily worked with Eric
Caldwell to organize a NDEW event in Knoxville (Turkey Creek for the last 2
years, I believe).
I wanted to start the conversation to see if you or someone in KEVA was
planning to host/support an event this year. Are you the best POC for that? If
so, would you be willing to set up a call soon to discuss?
Thanks so much,
Melissa
