There is only one contact for Knoxville in this list and I just left her a
voice mail, will see if she gets back to me, I asked her if she could
direct us to the best way to get into the newspaper/website.
Can anyone think of any other press around to send something like in the
examples below let us know.

Hi Eric,
We have prepared a press list for your state, which you can access with the
link below. Before you open it, please read the list of best practices
copied below.
TN Press List
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1c_nrst4fyjHVw8WudPR3VgDe4PfXdRwgGBZKXC_mFkA/edit>
Following these guidelines will not only make your event more likely to
generate press attention, but will help ensure NDEW events in the future
are successful.
- *Do not email every reporter from your state.* Especially if you're
from a large state, tailor the number of reporters you email to ones who
could feasibly come to your event. *Rule of thumb:* if it's going to
take much more than 20 minutes of travel time, don't invite them.
- *Give people enough notice, and follow up.* Send the initial email
about a week in advance, and then follow up one or two days before the
event to remind them. *Don't send more than two emails*--reporters are
busy people and they don't want to be inundated with reminders everyday.
- *Pitches should be short and sweet, but full of information.* There's
a sample pitch copied below. Feel free to edit it, *but try to keep it
to four sentences*. Include what your event is, what makes it
interesting/unique, and why the reporter should care. *Include details
if you're expecting an elected official or any high-profile individuals at
the event*. Give the reporter plenty of ways to contact you in case they
have follow up questions!
*Sample Pitch (send roughly a week in advance):*
Hi *REPORTER NAME*,
I wanted to quickly reach out about an event we're hosting next week as
part of National Drive Electric Week. On *DATE* at *TIME* we're putting on
an *electric vehicle parade that will include the first completely electric
police car in the country*. We're hoping the event will encourage *TOWN
city council to adopt more electric police cars to help reduce air
pollution in STATE.*
I've copied our *press release/event description* below. Please feel free
to contact me if you have an questions--it would be great to have someone
from *OUTLET* come out and cover the parade.
Thanks,
*YOUR NAME*
*Reminder email (send one or two days before the event):*
Hi *REPORTER NAME*,
Just following up on my previous email. The *parade* is tomorrow, and we'd
love to have you there.
Thanks,
*YOUR NAME*
