Hi All;

Attached is the first draft version of a Public Safety Associate of Science
degree program for the Klamath Basin Public Safety Training Center. Please
review if time permits. Comments are welcome.

This is the first time a degree like this has been developed for our
area/community. Special thanks to Jamie Jennings (VP at Klamath Community
College) for developing this.

The plan is to have emergency medical courses and structure/wildland fire
academies as the basic foundation and build from there into a 2-year degree
with transfer and/or open campus opportunities for a 4-year degree within the
Natural Resources Program at Oregon State. We also plan to tie in a natural
resources link - important as a stand-alone, but also for wildland fire and law
enforcement. All curricula developed with be compatible with national. State,
and local standards, rules, and regulations.

I am currently working with OSU College of Forestry Extension specialists to
develop a fire science curriculum for our program. This program, used as
outreach and education for landowners and other members within our communities
for Extension will be compatible and consistent with the Center's curriculum.
And if we can ultimately adapt into outdoor education and into the curriculum
for K-12 - we can truly have an all-grades, all-ages approach to public safety,
fire sciences, and natural resource training, education, experience, and
awareness.

So much work has been accomplished to date to which I am grateful. Much to do
yet, though - and with continued support and participation, we can do it.

Thank you,

Daniel
