The worst impacts from this heat wave will occur elsewhere in our region;
however, an increase in heat-related injuries are still possible in Klamath
County this week. Highest temperatures in Klamath County are expected in
Klamath Falls Wednesday and Thursday. See below for more details.

                                                   Excessive Heat Warnings and
Advisories Through Friday

Impacts
·  Dangerous heat this week could cause heat illnesses if overexerting.
·  Water rescues may be necessary due to people recreating in cold rivers.

Forecast Confidence

·  High confidence for record heat.

Timing and Strength
·  Heat
o The hottest temperatures of 110 to 115 degrees are forecast on Wednesday for
the inland western valleys. East of the Cascades, high temperatures in the
valleys will be around 100 degrees. Numerous daily record highs will likely be
set this week, and temperatures on Wednesday will approach all-time record
highs. The hottest inland western valleys, such as the Rogue Valley, could see
5 to 7 consecutive days of 100+ degree temperatures.    We are messaging to
stay out of the afternoon sun and drink plenty of water.

·   Cold Water

o Some rivers, such as the upper Rogue and Umpqua, will have water temperatures
in the upper 50s and 60s which can cause shock and make it difficult to swim.
We are messaging to always wear a life jacket.

Weather Summary

For many areas across the region we are forecasting the hottest stretch of
temperatures since August of 1981. Strong high pressure aloft will continue to
build over the entire western U.S. producing widespread and prolonged heat this
week. This high pressure aloft will gradually breakdown this weekend but
temperatures will still remain above normal into next week.
