SALEM, Ore.-A series of meetings of a Rules Advisory Committee on the
Wildland-Urban Interface boundary criteria have been scheduled.
This series is a continuation of the four-meeting series of the advisory
committee that recommended rules establishing the definition of the
Wildland-Urban interface.
The first is set for Tuesday, September 7 from 10 a.m.-noon via Zoom.
Additional meetings are scheduled every two weeks for September 21, October 5,
October 17, November 2, November 16, November 30, December 14, December 28,
January 11, January 25, February 8, and February 22-all from 10 a.m.-noon. All
meetings will be held virtually until announced otherwise, and all meetings are
open to the public.

Background: Senate Bill 762 was passed by the 2021 Legislature and signed by
Governor Brown requiring the Oregon Department of Forestry to develop and
maintain a comprehensive statewide map of wildfire risk that includes
wildland-urban interface boundaries and fire risk classes by June 30, 2022 in
collaboration with Oregon State University, the Oregon Office of State Fire
Marshal, other state agencies, local governments, tribes, other public bodies
and additional information sources. It requires that the map be publicly
accessible and for ODF to provide technical assistance as needed.
