Sorry for the late Saturday update. The NWS forecasts for this winter storm
have significantly increased the snowfall and decreased the subsequent
temperatures. See below for details.
It is recommended to avoid travel over mountain passes in our Southern Oregon
region, including the I-5 corridor, during heavy snow fall times, which are
tonight and tomorrow morning. Also be aware that the cold temperatures will
re-freeze any melting snow and cause slippery road conditions.

Widespread snow impacts tonight through Monday morning, followed by very cold
temperatures.
Good afternoon! We've made some changes to the forecast, and we've gained
confidence in some aspects of this winter storm. Check out the key points below
and the attached graphics. We can't provide the entire forecast here, but if
you have questions, don't hesitate to call us (541-773-1067) and check out

forecast discussion, point forecasts, and additional graphics.
What’s changed
· Have issued Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories for expected snow
impacts.
· Models have trended quicker with system and have increased amount of
precipitation, and thus snowfall.
· Confidence has increased for low elevation snowfall, with some snow
expected all the way down to the coastal valleys and beaches.
Key points
· West Side Valleys have best chance for accumulating snow Sunday morning
and again Sunday night into Monday morning. During the day Sunday, snow showers
will be hit or miss, so we don’t expect continuous daytime impacts in most
valleys.
· Much of Interstate 5 will be impacted by snowfall, especially the lower
passes between Grants Pass and Roseburg...and Siskiyou Summit.
· One of the coldest air masses ever to occur in February will affect the
forecast area behind the front. Any melted snow on roadways will quickly freeze
at night.
· Even areas with lower snow amounts east of the Cascades will experience
wintry conditions with gusty winds and blowing and drifting snow.
