Subject: All-Hazards Safety Officer Training
Importance: High
Good morning,
We are hosting another All-Hazards Position Specific Course in May. This class
is the All-Hazards Safety Officer Course. Please consider who in your
organization would be appropriate to send to this training. The Safety Officer
(SOFR) is a critical position to major incidents. Please register soon, as I
will send this out state-wide as well.
Description:
This course is designed to provide local and state-level emergency responders
with a robust understanding of the duties, responsibilities, and capabilities
of an effective SOFR on an All-Hazards Incident Management Team. These
responsibilities fall into two categories: 1) responding to the incident and
the safety needs of the incident, and 2) effectively fulfilling the position
responsibilities of a Safety Officer on an All-Hazards IMT. Exercises,
simulations, discussions, and a final exam enable students to process and apply
their new knowledge.
Pre-requisites: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800 and ICS 300.
The instructors are experienced Safety Officers with Type 2 or Type 1 Incident
Management Teams.
