It sold out in 20 minutes and I missed out and was devastated. I had never seen a Beatle before and this was my best shot. On June 5th, 3 days before the concert I was in a restaurant when I overheard someone say they got called out on business and could not go. So I go over to the table and inquired...I gave this guy money for the ticket but he said it would be at the pickup window the night of the concert. So I go and get the ticket at the box office and the usher leads me to my seat and keeps going closer and closer to the front...and she takes me to the FRONT ROW CENTER right in front of Ringo's microphone!!! I was overwhelmed to say the least. Shortly after that a really hot babe took the seat next to me...it was all so surreal, going from the heartbreak of not getting a ticket to this! Then, 2 hours of Beatle, Ringo, Santana, Mister Mister, Toto and Todd Rundgren songs. And then the coolest part...at the end they all sing the chorus to Give Peace A Chance...and before he walked off stage Ringo pointed right at me and said "Peace Brother"....a glorious night all around! You must have been dreaming! You must have a good karma. I'm in the middle of a good book entitled ''Can't buy me love''. It is excellent. Unlike other books, it gives the socio economic context that prevailed at the time, giving new insight into the circumstances which made the Fab Four what they were to become. Very interesting reading. That would have been cool Ron! Only thing like that for me was many moons back when my Dad and I went to Chicago (about 5-6 hours maybe)...for a CUbs-Dodgers afternoon game on a Saturday. We didn't have tickets... just walked up to the booth. As we are standing a business guy walks up and asks if we were needing tickets. Dad was skeptical, but the guy said his company had season tix, and he couldn't go that day and was looking to sell them at cost... I don't know what that was because Dad gave the guy money...and in we went. Same thing as you Ron... we showed the tix to an usher... well before that we knew something good because instead of climbing up the ramps to section nose bleed...we went down! The usher took us down steps til we were maybe 6 rows behind the Dodgers dugout---course they were my team. it was pretty cool to be so close to the field, and see these guys up close. To top it all off... this was a 21 inning game...that was called because of darkness. They finished it the next day in 1 inning! We got home very late, but got our money's worth Dan ------------------------------ From: "Robert Keller" <robert.keller@xxxxxx> Subject: [klaatumail] Re: Ringo Starr Date: Wed, 10 Sep 2014 21:57:18 +0200 Ron - this is a great story!
