Adding my two cents to this thread.

#1, I think Jaimie misunderstood the idea that Three Friends was appearing at
the festival as their ONLY North American performance so far. They didn't come
here to do a tour, they came to perform at a festival by invitation.

#2, I personally don't care if there are 40 bands and I want to see them ALL, I
will NOT attend a music festival to see music all weekend (or in the case of 40
bands, all week) because I don't have that kind of free time in my life. If I
was in Montreal on the day of the show, and if I could get a single day pass to
see any and all bands playing that day, I'd pay the price and go at the time
that Three Friends was playing, see them perform and leave.

#3, in case #2 doesn't give you a clue to my thought process, I absolutely
abhor the idea of music festivals. If I want to see a band, I want to see that
band. I don't want to see 7 bands, 20 bands, 40 bands, and I don't want to
devote a whole weekend to sitting through many bands to get to the ONE band I
want to see. I don't attend prog festivals to hear prog bands I've never heard
of before. I don't attend rock festivals to hear rock bands I've never heard of
before. I don't attend Soul Fest to hear new Christian rock bands I've never
heard of before (and didn't attend Cornerstone back in the days when I did a
Christian music radio show). The idea of a "festival" scares the hell of out
me and I want nothing to do with that crowd, no matter what the genre.

Can I devote an entire weekend to ONE band? Absolutely, Klaatu Kon 2005 showed
that.

Will I devote a weekend to a festival of several bands to see one of them? Not
on your life.

And while we're at it, I also will not pay good money to see ANY band, even the
Beatles with John and George magically reanimated and agreeing to reunite, if
it's at a casino. The casino shows are ALWAYS abbreviated. Band A is touring
and doing 2 1/2 hour shows. Band B is touring and doing 2 hour shows. Band C
is touring and doing 1 1/2 hour shows. When Band A appears at the casino, it's
60 minutes and you're out of there. When Band B appears at the casino, it's 60
minutes and you're out of there. When Band C appears at the casino, it's 60
minutes and you're out of there. The ticket prices are higher than any other
venue, the show is abbreviated, and then they expect you to stick around and
part with even more of your money now that you're actually at the casino. Not
me.

When Ringo came year after year, I went year after year. When Ringo came and
only appeared at a Casino in this area, I said, Sorry Ringo, not this year.
