2018-07-23.
It was an interesting comparison to go straight to his first novel after
reading A MOVEABLE FEAST, one of his last works. He's rougher here, but
has more energy to him. Even though I admire his stripped-down, punchy
style, I find myself kept a little at arms-length by something and don't
totally enjoy reading his work. I'll take a break before I read
anything else of his.
