Started reading RAFT by Stephen Baxter today 2018-02-17.

This is book five of the Xeelee Sequence, my personal 2018 reading goal.

Finished reading RAFT by Stephen Baxter yesterday 2018-02-18.

About half the length of RING (79k words vs. 141k), which accounts for the quick reading time. Enjoyable, exploring a world first introduced in an earlier short story of the same name.

The universe the characters inhabit is really, really 'weird', in an interesting way, and the social structure that evolves is interesting. The Boneys are truly gruesome and manage the rare feat of being stomach-churning but also believably real and sympathetically drawn.

I preferred RING, but still enjoyed this.
