This is a standalone novel set in the Revelation Space universe.

I enjoyed this -- as evidenced by the quick read. (Far and away the
quickest this year.) I like Reynolds' 'Revelation Space' universe, and
it's nice to go back to something familiar and comfortable. This book
itself is good -- it has a great heist in the middle -- and gives a lot
of interesting background on the universe.
It does suffer from not really being standalone. Strictly speaking, it
*is* standalone, but it's very, very linked to previous characters --
even including several of them. The familiarity is perhaps a little
comforting, but does make the universe seem very small; the same dozen
people seem to be involved in everything major.
