Toyota unterbricht Produktion wegen Taifun
Toyota muss seine Produktion in zwölf Werken wegen eines schweren Sturms über 
Japan unterbrechen, wie die Nachrichtenagentur "Reuters" berichtet. Betroffen 
sind Standorte in der Landesmitte. Noch ist nicht klar, wann die Fertigung 
wieder aufgenommen wird. Dies hängt vom Wetter ab. Auch Mitsubishi will seine 
Produktion an einem Standort stoppen. Die anderen japanischen 
Fahrzeughersteller haben keine entsprechenden Pläne. (Automobilwoche Online -

Renault erwägt Motorenfabrik in Marokko
Renault denkt darüber nach, ein Motorenwerk in Marokko zu bauen, um der 
steigenden Produktion in dem Land gerecht zu werden und Kosten zu senken. Chief 
Competitive Officer Thierry Bolloré erklärte, eine Motorenfabrik in Marokko 
würde Sinn ergeben angesichts der Tatsache, dass Renault in seinen Werken in 
Tanger und Casablanca 400.000 Fahrzeuge bauen kann. Bei einer lokalen 
Automobilausstellung teilte Bolloré mit, das Unternehmen denke darüber nach, 
müsse sich jedoch erst eine stärkere Zuliefererbasis aufbauen.

Daimler und Renault-Nissan erweitern Fertigungsverbund
Daimler und Renault-Nissan wollen ihren Fertigungsverbund weiter ausbauen. 
Zukünftig soll die Partnerschaft auch Motoren und Getriebe umfassen. Dazu 
gehört, dass Renault Daimler seinen 1,6-Liter-Vierzylinder-Dieselmotor für den 
Einbau in Mercedes-Benz C-Klasse-Modelle zur Verfügung stellt. Im Gegenzug wird 
Mercedes' 2,0-Liter-Vierzylinder-Benzinmotor von Nissans Premiummarke Infiniti

Opel-CEO Neumann zuversichtlich mit Blick auf Gewinnziel
Opel/Vauxhall-CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann ist trotz des schwächelnden Marktes in 
Russland und des nachlassenden Wachstums in Europa zuversichtlich, dass der 
Fahrzeughersteller sein Ziel erreichen kann, bis 2016 in die Gewinnzone 
zurückzukehren. Er erklärte, Opel werde seinen Marktanteil ausbauen, indem der 
Hersteller in neue Segmente vorstößt. Darüber hinaus werde das Unternehmen 
General Motors' weltweite Fahrzeugplattformen für sich nutzen und Teile- und 
Arbeitskosten weiter senken. Bis 2022 peilt Opel eine Vorsteuermarge von fünf

PSA will mit DS zurück in die USA
PSA Peugeot-Citroën könnte zu Beginn des nächsten Jahrzehnts mit seiner Marke 
DS in die USA zurückkehren. Dieser Plan ist Teil der globalen Strategie, von 
2020 an DS-Fahrzeuge in 200 großen Städten weltweit zu verkaufen. 30 dieser 
Städte liegen in Nordamerika, davon 20 in den USA, wie DS-CEO Yves Bonnefont 
mitteilte. Peugeot hatte sich 1991 aus den USA zurückgezogen. Keines seiner 
aktuell fünf Modelle erfüllt derzeit die dortigen staatlichen Anforderungen.

Tesla will angeblich in das Rennen um automatisiertes Fahren einsteigen
Tesla plant einen ersten Vorstoß im Bereich automatisiertes Fahren, wie eine 
mit den Plänen des Unternehmens vertraute Person mitteilte. Der Quelle zufolge 
will Tesla dem Beispiel seiner Konkurrenten im Luxussegment folgen und 
Hightech-Features wie den Spurhalteassistenten anbieten. Die neuen Funktionen 
sollen im Rahmen einer für diese Woche angesetzten Bekanntmachung vorgestellt

Toyota interrupts production due to typhoon
Toyota had to temporarily suspend production at twelve plants due to a severe 
storm in Japan, news agency "Reuters" reports, adding that the interruption 
affects sites in central areas of the country. It is not yet clear when 
production will be resumed, as this depends on the weather conditions. 
Mitsubishi also plans to interrupt production at one of its plants. Other

Renault mulls engine plant in Morocco
Renault is considering building engines in Morocco to serve increasing 
production in the country and to cut costs. Chief Competitive Officer Thierry 
Bolloré explained that an engine factory would make sense, given that Renault 
has capacity to build 400,000 vehicles at plants in Tangier and Casablanca. At 
the local auto show, he said the company is thinking about it, but first needs

Daimler, Renault-Nissan extend manufacturing alliance
Daimler and Renault-Nissan are planning to extend their manufacturing alliance 
to include engines and transmissions. The deal will include an agreement for 
Renault to supply Daimler with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder diesel engine for use 
in its Mercedes-Benz C class, Daimler announced. In return, Mercedes will 
provide its 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine for use by Nissan's premium

Opel CEO Neumann confident of reaching profit goal
Opel/Vauxhall CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann is confident that the automaker will 
achieve its goal of returning to profit by 2016 despite the Russian market 
downturn and slowing growth in Europe. He says Opel will grow its market share 
by pushing into new segments, increase its scale by leveraging General Motors' 
global vehicle platforms, and reduce parts and labor costs even further. By

PSA plots U.S. re-entry with DS brand
PSA Peugeot-Citroën could return to the U.S. early in the next decade with its 
DS brand. This plan is part of a global strategy to sell DS vehicles in 200 
large cities worldwide after 2020. Of those, 30 would be in North America 
including 20 in the U.S., DS CEO Yves Bonnefont announced. Peugeot withdrew 
from the U.S. in 1991. None of its five current models is compliant with the

Tesla said to join luxury race into automated driving
Tesla is planning to make its first foray toward automated driving, said a 
person familiar with the automaker's plans. According to the source, the 
company will join luxury rivals in offering high-tech features including one 
that can keep the vehicle in its lane. The new capabilities will be revealed at 
an announcement scheduled for this week, the person added. (Bloomberg.com -
