Die konventionellen Autohersteller wie BMW, Audi und Daimler arbeiten intensiv

einer McKinsey-Studie zufolge ist dies die richtige Entscheidung: Demnach

Daimler will in Lkw-Sparte Stellen streichen
Daimler plant im Rahmen seiner angestrebten Kostensenkung im Lastwagen-Geschäft
auch einen Personalabbau. Wie ein Unternehmenssprecher am 7. April mitteilte,
sei eine entsprechende Betriebsvereinbarung geschlossen worden, die ein
freiwilliges Ausscheiden von Mitarbeitern regle. Wie viele Jobs abgebaut werden
sollen, wurde nicht bekannt gegeben. Betriebsbedingte Kündigungen sind bei dem

"Der Markt will Elektroautos nicht"
Laut ZF-Chef Stefan Sommer will der Markt Elektroautos bislang eigentlich gar
nicht haben. Dennoch wird sich der Trend seiner Meinung nach nicht aufhalten
lassen. Gleichzeitig sprach er sich im Interview mit dem "Tagesspiegel" für ein
verlängertes Leben von Verbrennungsmotoren mit synthetischen Kraftstoffen
(E-Fuels) aus. Dies sei die "sinnvollste Lösung" - wahrscheinlich auch

Continental investiert in portugiesisches Reifenwerk
Continental baut die Produktionskapazitäten in seinem Reifenwerk im
portugiesischen Lousado deutlich aus. Bis Ende kommenden Jahres will die
Division Reifen insgesamt knapp 150 Millionen Euro in den Standort investieren.
Damit sollen sowohl die Produktionskapazität erhöht werden als auch neue

Northrop Grumman und Honeywell erhalten EGI-M-Verträge
Northrop Grumman und Honeywell haben unabhängige Aufträge der US-Luftwaffe
erhalten. Sie sollen das satellitengestützte System zur weltweiten
Positionsbestimmung (GPS) technologisch unterstützen. Die Auftragswerte für
Northrop Grumman und Honeywell belaufen sich auf 49 Millionen Dollar
beziehungsweise 30 Millionen Dollar. Beide Firmen sollen der Luftwaffe
technischen Support zur weiteren Entwicklung und Risikosenkung des integrierten
GPS und der Inertial Navigation System-Modernization Technology (EGI-M)

Daimler wants to cut jobs in truck division
Daimler is planning to cut jobs as part of its envisaged cost cuts in its truck
business. A company spokesman said on April 7 that a corresponding works
agreement has been signed, regulating the voluntary exit of employees. The
number of jobs to be cut was not announced. Compulsory redundancies are

"The market doesn't want electric cars"
ZF CEO Stefan Sommer said that the market actually does not want electric cars
at present. However, the trend cannot be stopped, he told "Tagesspiegel" in an
interview. Sommer champions a longer use of combustion engines with synthetic
fuels (e-fuels), saying that this solution is the most practical one, probably

Continental to invest in Portuguese tire plant
Continental is significantly expanding production capacity at its tire factory
in Lousado, Portugal. The suppliers' Tires division plans to invest almost 150
million euros at the site by the end of next year, aiming to raise production
capacity and creating new production facilities for tires used in agriculture.

Northrop Grumman, Honeywell receive EGI-M contracts
Northrop Grumman and Honeywell have won separate contracts from the U.S. Air
Force to provide Global Positioning navigation system technology support. The
contract values for Northrop Grumman and Honeywell amount to 49 million dollars
and 30 million dollars, respectively. Each firm will provide maturation and
risk reduction technical services for Embedded Global Positioning System and
