Toyota senkt Absatzprognose
Toyota hat im zweiten Geschäftsquartal einen Nettogewinn von umgerechnet 3,4
Milliarden Euro verzeichnet - 35,6 Prozent weniger als im Vorjahreszeitraum.
Grund ist der starke Yen. Trotzdem hat der Hersteller seine Ergebnisprognose
für das Fiskaljahr 2016/2017 leicht angehoben, die Absatzprognose jedoch von

Renault-Chef sieht noch Entwicklungsbedarf
Renault-Chef Carlos Ghosn verlangt, dass selbstfahrende Autos überall sicher
fahren können müssen. "Unser Ziel ist eine Technologie, die man überall
einsetzen kann und die fehlerfrei funktioniert", sagte Ghosn auf der
Internet-Konferenz "Web Summit" in Portugals Hauptstadt Lissabon. Bis dahin sei

Continental macht deutlich weniger Gewinn
Am 10. November legt Continental seine Quartalszahlen vor - kurz nachdem das
Unternehmen seine Gewinnprognose Mitte Oktober gekappt hat. Analysten gehen von
deutlich weniger Gewinn und einer klar gesunkenen Marge aus. Sie rechnen mit
einem Umsatzplus von rund vier Prozent auf zehn Milliarden Euro.

Warum Tesla einen deutschen Mittelständler kauft
Der US-Elektroauto-Hersteller Tesla will seine Produktion massiv ausbauen und
hat dafür Grohmann Engineering übernommen. Der deutsche Maschinenbauer ist auf
automatisierte Produktion spezialisiert. Jetzt soll die Tochter Tesla Grohmann
Automation entstehen. Dabei sollen in den nächsten zwei Jahren rund 1.000
Arbeitsplätze für hochqualifizierte Techniker in Deutschland entstehen, auch an

Winterkorn als Zeuge geladen
Das Landgericht Paderborn hat den ehemaligen VW-Chef Martin Winterkorn als
Zeugen vorgeladen, um in einem Schadenersatzprozess in Folge des Abgas-Skandals
auszusagen. Ob Winterkorn jedoch vor Gericht erscheinen und tatsächlich
aussagen wird, ist noch offen. Denn gegen ihn laufen im Zuge der Abgas-Affäre

Schaeffler streicht 500 Stellen im Industriegeschäft
Schaeffler streicht 500 Stellen in der Industriesparte und will somit sein
Ergebnis in diesem Bereich in den kommenden drei Jahren um 60 Millionen Euro
verbessern. Konzern-Chef Klaus Rosenfeld verweist darauf, dass die Sparte unter
anderem unter einer "hohen Wettbewerbsintensität" und unter "Preisverfall"
leide. Zuletzt lag die operative Marge der Industriesparte unter zehn Prozent;
Rosenfeld strebt für diesen Bereich aber eine Ebit-Marge von zehn bis elf

Toyota lowers sales forecast
Toyota's net profits in the fiscal second quarter fell 35.6 percent
year-on-year to the equivalent of 3.4 billion euros. The development is down to
the strong yen. While the Japanese automaker nevertheless slightly raised its
earnings guidance for fiscal year 2016/17, it cut its sales forecast from 8.9

Renault CEO sees need for further R&D
Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn has said that self-driving cars should be able to
drive safely everywhere. The goal is a technology that can be used everywhere
and that works flawlessly, said Ghosn at the "Web Summit" internet conference
in Portugal's capital Lisbon. However, a lot of work is still necessary to

Continental registers much lower profit
Continental is set to present its quarterly results on November 10, shortly
after the group cut its profit forecast in mid-October. Analysts expect the
automotive supplier to report much lower profits and a significantly lower
margin. But they expect revenues to rise four percent to 10 billion euros.

Why Tesla buys a German medium-sized firm
The U.S. manufacturer of electric vehicles Tesla has acquired Grohmann
Engineering, a German engineering company specializing in automated production,
in a bid to massively expand production. After the takeover, Tesla aims to
create the subsidiary Tesla Grohmann Automation. It also plans to create about
1,000 jobs for high-qualified engineers at various sites in Germany within the

Winterkorn summoned as a witness
The district court in Paderborn has summoned former Volkswagen CEO Martin
Winterkorn as a witness to testify in compensation proceedings following the
emissions scandal. However, it is uncertain whether Winterkorn will indeed
appear in court and testify, as he is also the subject of investigations in the

Schaeffler cuts 500 jobs in its industrial business
Schaeffler is cutting 500 jobs in its industry division, aiming to improve its
earnings (ebit) in this area by 60 million euros in the next three years. CEO
Klaus Rosenfeld pointed out that the unit has to cope with a "high intensity of
competition" and "price erosion," among other things. The industrial unit's
ebit margin was below ten percent recently, but Rosenfeld aims to reach ten to
