Volkswagen kehrt in den Iran zurück
Nach mehr als 17 Jahren wagt sich die Marke Volkswagen wieder in den Iran. Der
mit der Firma Mammut Khodro vereinbarte Vertrag sieht zunächst den Import der
VW-Modelle Tiguan und Passat vor, wie die Wolfsburger am Dienstag bekannt
gaben. Der Verkauf soll im August beginnen, die Fahrzeuge werden zunächst über

Elektro-Streit bei Daimler geht weiter
Daimler steuert im Konflikt um die Zukunft seiner Elektro-Fertigung auf
neuerliche Produktionseinbußen und abgesagte Arbeitsschichten zu. Im Stammwerk
Stuttgart-Untertürkheim wurden sich Betriebsrat und Management auch am 4. Juli
nicht einig, wie die Belegschaftsvertretung am 5. Juli berichtete. Für den 9.
Juli wurde deshalb die Genehmigung aller Überstunden an dem zentralen Standort

Volkswagen hat bei seinen "Future Mobility Days" unter dem Motto "electrified,
eco, experience" einige Forschungs- und Entwicklungs-Projekte enthüllt, die
lange unter Verschluss geblieben waren. So zeigte der Konzern ein optimiertes
Zündkonzept für Gasmotoren, das niedrigere Verbrauchs- und Emissionswerte
ermöglichen soll. Zu den spannendsten und anschaulichsten Themen der "Future
Mobility Days" gehörten ausgeklügelte Maßnahmen rund um das automatisierte

Renault steigt bei Brilliance ein
Renault beteiligt sich zu 49 Prozent an der Shenyang Brilliance JinBei
Automobile Co Ltd (SBJ) in China. Das Joint Venture widmet sich leichten
Nutzfahrzeugen und kostet Renault nur den symbolischen Beitrag von einem Yuan
(rund 0,13 Euro). Der Einstieg des französischen Autoherstellers soll helfen,
wieder in die Gewinnzone zu kommen. Zusammen wollen die Partner laut Angaben
rund 1,5 Milliarden Yuan (194 Millionen Euro) in das Joint Venture investieren.

Conti beteiligt sich an EasyMile
Continental will künftig eng mit der französischen Technologiefirma EasyMile
zusammenarbeiten und hat eine nicht genau bezifferte Minderheitsbeteiligung an
dem Unternehmen gekauft. Die Transaktion muss noch von den Kartellbehörden
genehmigt werden. EasyMile entwirft Systeme für autonomes Fahren, vor allem für
fahrerlose Shuttles. Die Kooperation umfasst die Bereiche Umfeldsensorik,

Velodyne LiDAR erweitert globale Kapazität mit Autoliv
In Kooperation mit Autoliv erweitert Velodyne die hochvolumige
LiDAR-Sensorproduktion in Nordamerika, Europa und Asien. Zusammen werden die
Unternehmen weltweit hochvolumige Automobil-LiDAR-Sensor-Aufträge abwickeln und
kritische Technologien für Fahrzeuge bereitstellen, die auf einen völlig
autonomen Betrieb sowie die höchste Systemsicherheit ausgerichtet sind.

Volkswagen returns to Iran
After more than 17 years, the Volkswagen brand again ventures into Iran. The
contract agreed with the company Mammut Khodro initially provides for the
import of the VW models Tiguan and Passat, the Wolfsburg-based automaker
announced on July 4. The sale is scheduled to start in August. The vehicles are
initially sold through eight dealerships with a focus in the Teheran area.

Electric-car dispute at Daimler continues
In the conflict over the future of its electric-car production, Daimler is
heading for new production losses and canceled working shifts. At the
Stuttgart-Untertürkheim parent plant, the works council and management still
did not agree on July 4, the staff representatives reported on July 5. The
approval of all overtime work at the central location was therefore rejected
for July 9. The development is again poised to lead to car production losses.

Volkswagen has revealed some research and development projects that had been
classified for a long time. For instance, the company presented an optimized

Renault buys stake in Brilliance
Renault is buying a 49-percent stake in China-based Shenyang Brilliance JinBei
Automobile (SBJ). The joint venture focuses on light commercial vehicles, with
Renault only paying a symbolic sum of one yuan, or 0.13 euros. The France-based
automaker is expected to help the company return to profitability, with the
partners planning to invest some 1.5 billion yuan, or 194 million euros, in the

Continental acquires stake in EasyMile
Continental plans to closely cooperate with EasyMile and has thus acquired an
undisclosed minority stake in the France-based technology company. The
transaction is yet to be approved by the cartel authorities. EasyMile develops
systems for autonomous driving, primarily for self-driving shuttles. The
cooperation involves environment sensors, braking systems and safety

Velodyne LiDAR expands global capacity with Autoliv
Velodyne is expanding its high-volume LiDAR sensor production in North America,
Europe and Asia in cooperation with Autoliv. The two companies will thus
jointly process worldwide orders for automotive LiDAR sensors and provide
critical technologies for vehicles, which aim for fully autonomous operation
