Daimler will Sparprogramme ausbauen
Daimlers Vorstandsvorsitzender Dieter Zetsche plant, die Effizienzprogramme des
Konzerns weiter auszubauen. Allein das Fit-for-Leadership-Programm, das derzeit
bei der Mercedes-Pkw-Sparte läuft, soll bis Ende dieses Jahres rund zwei
Milliarden Euro einsparen. Das Unternehmen setzte von April bis Juni 2014 mit
628.900 Pkw und Nutzfahrzeugen vier Prozent mehr als im Vorjahreszeitraum ab.
Der Umsatz erhöhte sich im zweiten Quartal 2014 um sechs Prozent auf 31,5
Milliarden Euro. Das Ebit stieg um zwölf Prozent auf 2,5 Milliarden Euro.

GM will in Michigan 800 Millionen Dollar in Modernisierung investieren
General Motors will 800 Millionen Dollar im US-Bundesstaat Michigan
investieren. Dort sollen im gesamten Staat die Werke des Unternehmens
modernisiert werden, um künftig neue Auto-Plattformen einsetzen und neue
Programme umsetzen zu können. Außerdem will der Autobauer in dem US-Staat 1.750
neue Arbeitsplätze schaffen. Zuvor wurden verschiedene Ingenieurs-Positionen
außerhalb Michigans abgeschafft und in ein Zentrum in Michigan verlegt.

Kia führt Gespräche über Eröffnung eines 1,5-Milliarden-Dollar-Werks in Mexiko
Kia befindet sich derzeit mit Mexiko in Gesprächen über die Eröffnung eines
neuen Auto-Werks für 1,5 Milliarden Dollar. Dies erklärten offizielle Stellen
im nördlichen Staat Nuevo León. Laut Rolando Zubiran, Sekretär für
wirtschaftliche Entwicklung in Nuevo León, nehmen an den Gesprächen die
mexikanische Bundesregierung, der Staat Nuevo León und Kia teil. Zubiran hofft,
dass in den ersten beiden Wochen des Monats August eine Einigung erzielt wird.
Mit der Angelegenheit vertraute Personen erklärten, das Werk werde eine
Jahreskapazität von 300.000 Pkw haben. Der Standort solle am nordöstlichen Rand

Gamesa liefert Windturbinen mit einer Kapazität von 214 MW nach Brasilien
Gamesa hat von zwei brasilianischen Unternehmen Aufträge über Windturbinen mit
einer Gesamtkapazität von 214 Megawatt (MW) erhalten. Das
Versorgungsunternehmen Companhia de Energias Renováveis, das erneuerbare
Energien anbietet, hat 83 Turbinen mit einer Gesamtkapazität von 166 MW für
seinen Xique-Xique-Windpark im nordöstlichen Staat Bahia bestellt. Der
staatseigene Versorger Eletrosul Centrais Elétricas hat 24 Windturbinen mit
einer Kapazität von 48 MW geordert. Diese sollen in der Cerro-Chato-Anlage im

Iberdrolas Gewinn sinkt
Iberdrolas Gewinn ist im ersten Halbjahr 2014 um zwölf Prozent zurückgegangen.
Grund dafür war die Kürzung von Subventionen für erneuerbare Energien in
Spanien. Der Nettogewinn fiel auf 1,5 Milliarden Euro. Im Vorjahreszeitraum
hatte er noch 1,7 Milliarden Euro betragen. Der Umsatz ging um 4,5 Prozent auf
15,2 Milliarden Euro zurück. Der Gewinn vor Zinsen, Steuern und Abschreibungen
(Ebitda) belief sich auf 3,7 Milliarden Euro und blieb somit in etwa auf dem

ABBs Nettogewinn fällt
ABBs Nettogewinn ist im zweiten Quartal 2014 im Vergleich zum Vorjahreszeitraum
um 17 Prozent auf 636 Millionen Dollar gesunken. Das Unternehmen hatte bereits
zuvor angekündigt, dass Aufwendungen für Offshore-Windprojekte und
Solarprojekte sich in den nächsten Quartalen auswirken könnten. Der Umsatz

Daimler is set to expand efficiency programs
Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche is set to further expand the company's efficiency
programs. The Fit for Leadership program alone, which is currently in effect at
the Mercedes passenger car division, is set to save just over two billion euros
by the end of 2014. Daimler sold 628,900 passenger cars and commercial vehicles
globally in the period from April to June 2014, an increase of four percent
year-on-year. Sales rose six percent to 31.5 billion euros year-on-year in the
second quarter 2014. Ebit increased twelve percent to 2.5 billion euros.

GM to invest 800 million dollars to renovate operations in Michigan
General Motors is set to invest 800 million dollars in Michigan, U.S., as part
of plans to renovate production sites throughout the state to support future
vehicle platforms and programs. The automaker will also add 1,750 jobs in the
state after consolidating various engineering functions outside Michigan to a

Kia in talks to open 1.5 billion Mexico plant
Kia is in talks with Mexico to open a new, 1.5 billion dollar car factory,
officials of the northern state of Nuevo León said. Rolando Zubiran, secretary
of economic development in Nuevo León, said the talks involved Nuevo León, the
Mexican federal government and Kia, adding that he hoped the deal would be
concluded during the first two weeks of August. The plant would have an annual
capacity of 300,000 cars and be built on the northeastern fringe of the city of

Gamesa to supply 214 MW of wind turbines to Brazil
Gamesa won orders for 214 megawatts (MW) of wind turbines with two Brazilian
companies. Companhia de Energias Renováveis, a renewable energy provider, will
receive 83 turbines with a total 166 MW of capacity for the Xique-Xique wind
complex in the northeastern state of Bahia. State-run power utility Eletrosul
Centrais Elétricas ordered 24 wind turbines turbines with a capacity of 48 MW
for its Cerro Chato complex in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul.

Iberdrola profit drops
Iberdrola said first-half 2014 profit dropped twelve percent after a reduction
in renewable-energy subsidies in Spain took full effect. Net income fell to 1.5
billion euros from 1.7 billion euros a year earlier. Sales decreased 4.5
percent to 15.2 billion euros. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation
and amortization (ebitda) reached 3.7 billion euros, little changed from a year

ABB's net income drops
ABB reported a second quarter 2014 drop in net income of 17 percent to 636
million dollars. The company earlier this year warned that charges from
offshore wind and solar projects could resurface in coming quarters. ABB's
