Ex-BMW-Manager wird neuer VW-Nordamerika-Chef
Der ehemalige BMW-Manager Hinrich Woebcken soll ab dem 1. April 2016 für
Volkswagen die Geschäfte der Kernmarke in Nordamerika führen. Er werde Michael
Horn, Leiter der Volkswagen Group of America, unterstützen und in den USA,
Mexiko und Kanada Entwicklung, Einkauf, Produktion sowie Verkauf koordinieren.
Der ehemalige Skoda-Chef Winfried Vahland hatte den Job zuvor abgelehnt.

Daimler gründet die Plattform a-drive
Um das autonome Fahren voranzubringen, hat Daimler mit Wissenschaftlern der
Universitäten Ulm und Karlsruhe sowie dem Forschungszentrum Informatik die
Forschungsplattform a-drive gegründet. Parallel zu den technischen
Herausforderungen sind auch die gesellschaftlichen Fragen zur Verantwortung und
Haftung zu klären. Dafür will Daimler "mit den Besten ihres Fachs auf diesem
Gebiet die noch offenen Forschungsfragen lösen", heißt es in der

BMW beteiligt Kunden an der Entwicklung
Zusammen mit den künftigen Kunden arbeitet BMW an den Connected-Drive-Diensten.
Mit der neuen Plattform "BMW Lab" können die Nutzer neue, noch im
Entwicklungsstatus befindliche Services für das Infotainmentsystem Connected
Drive vorab testen und bewerten. Neu dabei ist IFTTT, ein Programm, das das

Audi verlagert Q3-Produktion von Spanien nach Ungarn
Audi will die Produktion seines Q3 Compact Crossover von Spanien in sein Werk
in Ungarn verlegen, wie die Presseabteilung in Ungarn mitteilte. Zudem habe das
Vorhaben das Ziel, die Effizienz sowie die Synergien mit dem Mutterkonzern
Volkswagen verbessern. Der Q3 wird demnach das dritte Fahrzeug, das im
ungarischen Werk in Gyor gebaut wird. Dort werden bereits der A3 und der TT

Dongfeng ernennt neuen CEO
Dongfeng Motor hat Vize-Präsident Ouyang Jie zum neuen Präsidenten des
Unternehmens ernannt. Damit hat der staatliche Autohersteller den Posten zwei
Monate nach der Entlassung von Zhu Fushou wegen des Verdachts auf Korruption
neu besetzt. Der 59-jährige Ouyang war seit 2003 Vize-Präsident von Dongfeng
und vorher Leiter des Komponenten-Geschäfts. Zhu Fushou ist der dritte leitende
Angestellte von Dongfeng gegen den wegen Korruption ermittelt wird.

Schaeffler stellt sich auf wandelnde Mobilität ein
2,5 Milliarden Fahrzeuge werden einer Prognose von Shell zufolge im Jahr 2050
auf der ganzen Welt unterwegs sein. Viele davon dürften mit Strom angetrieben
werden. Schaeffler bereitet sich entsprechend darauf vor. Der
Automobilzulieferer betrachtet dabei die Einzelkomponenten Motor, Getriebe und
Elektrik im Verbund, um umweltfreundliche Lösungen zu entwickeln.

Former BMW manager to become head of VW brand in North America
Former BMW manager Hinrich Woebcken is set to manage the activities of
Volkswagen's Passenger Cars core brand in North America starting on April 1. He
will support Michael Horn, CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, and coordinate
development, purchasing, production and sales in the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
Former Skoda CEO Winfried Vahland rejected the job offer earlier.

Daimler creates the a-drive platform
Daimler has founded the research platform a-drive together with scientists from
the universities of Ulm and Karlsruhe as well as the FZI Research Center for
Information Technology in a bid to advance autonomous driving. Alongside the
technical challenges, the social questions of responsibility and liability
still need to be worked out. Daimler plans to "solve the remaining research
questions with the best in their field" in this context, the company said in a

BMW involves customers in development
BMW is developing its Connected Drive services jointly with customers. Users
can go to the new platform "BMW Lab" to test and assess new services for the
Connected Drive infotainment system that are still in the development phase.
The process also comprises the new IFTTT program, which links the car with the

Audi to move Q3 production from Spain to Hungary
Audi is set to move production of its Q3 compact crossover vehicle to its
Hungarian plant from Spain, the automaker's Hungarian press office said in a
statement. It added the move is aimed at improving the efficiency of
manufacturing and exploiting synergies within its parent company Volkswagen
group. The Q3 will be the fourth vehicle built at Audi's Hungarian plant in the
western town of Gyor, which already produces the A3 and TT sports models.

Dongfeng names new CEO
Dongfeng Motor appointed Vice President Ouyang Jie as its new president,
filling the post two months after the major state-owned automaker removed Zhu
Fushou for suspected graft. 59-year old Ouyang has served as vice president at
Dongfeng since 2003 and was previously head of Dongfeng's parts supply business
division. Zhu Fushou is the third senior executive at Dongfeng probed for

Schaeffler adapts to changing mobility
2.5 billion vehicles will be on the world's roads in 2050, according to a Shell
forecast. Many of them are likely to be propelled by electricity. Schaeffler is
preparing itself accordingly. The automotive supplier is looking at the
individual components engine, transmission and electronics together to develop
