Der Smart wird zum Stromer
Kurz vor dem Pariser Autosalon im Oktober hat Smart die Details zu den drei
voll elektrischen Modellen veröffentlicht, die dort ihr Debüt geben. Als erster
Autobauer weltweit bietet Smart die komplette Modellpalette künftig auch mit
Elektroantrieb an. Der einheitliche Elektromotor für Zweisitzer, Viersitzer und
Cabrio kommt dabei auf eine Leistung von 81 PS und eine Reichweite von rund 160
Kilometern. Die Höchstgeschwindigkeit liegt bei 130 km/h. (Automobilwoche

Chevy stattet nächsten Equinox mit Dieselmotor aus
General Motors hat angekündigt, dass der Chevrolet Equinox des Modelljahres
2018 kürzer sein und 400 Pfund leichter sein wird als das Modell, das er
ersetzt. Zudem wird es der erste kompakte Crossover in den USA mit Diesel-Motor
sein. Das Modell wird zudem zahlreiche Sicherheitsfeatures erhalten, faltbare
Rücksitze sowie einen um zehn Prozent kleineren Wendekreis. (Automotive News

VW Golf-Produktion fällt tagelang aus
Aufgrund eines Schadens an einer Blechpresse muss die Produktion des
Verkaufsschlagers Golf im Volkswagen-Stammwerk in Wolfsburg unterbrochen
werden. Ein Sprecher erklärte am 22. September auf Anfrage, dass die
Golf-Fertigung am 23. September (Frühschicht) sowie am 26. und 27. September
ruhen werde. Erst kürzlich hatte ein Konflikt mit Zulieferern im Stammwerk für
massive Probleme bis hin zu tagelangen Produktionsausfällen gesorgt.

Tesla verklagt Staatsbeamte in Michigan wegen Verkaufsverbot
Tesla hat Michigans Gouverneur Rick Snyder sowie weitere Staatsbeamte vor dem
Bundesgericht angeklagt. Der US-Bundesstaat will dem Autohersteller verbieten,
Autos direkt an Kunden zu verkaufen, anstatt dies über Vertragshändler zu
erledigen. Tesla hat derzeit Geschäfte in 23 US-Staaten und dem District of
Columbia, erhält in den folgenden vier Staaten jedoch keine Verkaufslizenz:

Knorr-Bremse kauft zusätzliche Aktien
Der seit Wochen andauernde Bieterkampf zwischen Knorr-Bremse und ZF
Friedrichshafen um den Bremsenhersteller Haldex gewinnt weiter an Fahrt.
Nachdem ZF inzwischen rund 21 Prozent der Anteile an Haldex hält, hat jetzt
auch Knorr-Bremse zugekauft. Der Hersteller von Bremssystemen für Nutz- und
Schienenfahrzeuge hat nach eigenen Angaben zusätzliche 1.575.039 Aktien des
schwedischen Zulieferers von Carnegie Fonder AB übernommen. Damit hält
Knorr-Bremse nun insgesamt 14,91 Prozent an Haldex. (Automobilwoche Online -

Continental trennt sich von China-Vorstand Ralf Cramer
Der Aufsichtsrat des Automobilzulieferers Continental hat in seiner Sitzung am
23. September die Mandate der Vorstandsmitglieder Helmut Matschi und Nikolai
Setzer um jeweils fünf Jahre bis Mitte August 2022 verlängert. Die Amtszeit von
Vorstandsmitglied Ralf Cramer läuft dagegen mit Vertragsende zum August
nächsten Jahres aus. Ob der Reifenhersteller die Position eines Vorstands in
China wieder besetzt, ist noch nicht klar. Unbekannt ist auch, welche Pläne

Smart turns electric
Shortly ahead of the Paris motor show in October, Smart has presented details
on three fully-electric models that are to debut there. Smart will thus be the
first carmaker in the world to offer electric versions of its entire lineup.
The unitary electric engine for two- and four-seaters and for the Convertible
has a power output of 81 hp and a range of about 160 kilometers. Top speed is

Chevy will equip next Equinox with diesel engine in global push
General Motors announced that the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox will be shorter and
400 pounds lighter than the model it replaces, and will be the first compact
crossover offered in the US with a diesel engine. It will also be fitted with
numerous active safety features, fold-flat rear seats and a 10 percent tighter

VW production to be stopped for days
Due to a defect on a metal press, production of the best-selling Golf has to be
halted at the Volkswagen main plant in Wolfsburg. Upon request, a spokesman
said on September 22 that production will stop on September 23 (early shift) as
well as on September 26 and 27. Only recently, a conflict with supplier firms
had led to massive problems up to day-long production stops at the Wolfsburg

Tesla sues Michigan officials over state bar on sales
Tesla Motors has sued Michigan Governor Rick Snyder and other state officials
in federal court over the state's stance of not allowing the automaker to sell
vehicles directly to consumers, instead of using franchised dealers. Tesla
currently operates stores in 23 US states and the District of Columbia, but
cannot get a license to sell vehicles in four states: Michigan, Texas,

Knorr-Bremse buys additional shares
The bidding war between Knorr-Bremse and ZF Friedrichshafen for the
braking-system manufacturer Haldex, which has been going on for weeks,
continues to pick up pace. Whereas ZF by now holds 21 percent of all Haldex
shares, Knorr-Bremse has acquired additional stocks now as well. According to
company statements, the manufacturer of braking systems for utility and rail
vehicles has taken over an additional 1,575,039 shares from Swedish supplier
Carnegie Fonder AB. Knorr-Bremse thus holds 14.91 percent in Haldex now.

Continental to let China board member Cramer run down his contract
During its September 23 meeting, Continental's supervisory board extended the
contracts of executives Helmut Matschi and Nikolai Setzer by five years, with
them now running until mid-August 2022. Executive Ralf Cramer, in contrast,
will run down his contract, which is set to expire in August 2017. It is not
clear yet whether the automotive supplier will reappoint a board member for
China. It is also unclear what Cramer plans to do when his contract runs out.
