Toyota will kräftig einsparen
Toyota hat umfangreiche neue Einsparungen bei Investitionen in Fabriken und die
Fahrzeugentwicklung skizziert. Der japanische Automobilhersteller will diese
Einsparungen durch eine aggressive konzernweite Restrukturierung erreichen, die
in diesem Jahr beginnen soll. Das Programm ist Teil einer Umstellung auf neue
modularisierte Produktplattformen und das Ergebnis jahrelanger Vorbereitung.
Der Konzern will die benötigten Ressourcen für die Fertigung neuer Fahrzeuge um

Ford will Exporte aus Indien verdreifachen
Der US-Autobauer Ford investiert eine Milliarde Dollar in ein neues Werk in
Indien und will damit seine Exporte aus dem Land verdreifachen. Vor allem
Kompaktautos wie der SUV Ecosport und die neue Limousine Figo Aspire sollen in
dem Werk im westlichen Bundesstaat Gujarat gebaut werden, kündigte Ford-Chef
Mark Fields vor Journalisten an. Mit dem neuen Werk werde Ford die
Fertigungskapazität in Indien auf 610.000 Motoren und 440.000 Fahrzeuge fast
verdoppeln, sagte Fields. Das Schwellenland soll ein Exportzentrum für Fords

Detroit Diesel will Fabrik modernisieren
Detroit Diesel will seine fast 75 Jahre alte Fabrik am Rande von Detroit
modernisieren. Der Hersteller von Dieselmotoren dürfte 208 Millionen Dollar in
neue Maschinen und Ausrüstung für eine neue Dieselmotoren-Serie mit mittlerer
Leistungsstärke investieren. Dadurch dürften 245 Arbeitsplätze entstehen. Bei
der Frage nach dem Produktionsstandort für die neue Dieselmotoren-Serie hat
sich die Daimler-Tochter für Michigan und gegen Mexiko und Deutschland

Schaeffler bleibt auf Wachstumskurs
Der Zulieferer Schaeffler hat im vergangenen Jahr Umsatz und Gewinn deutlich
erhöht. Der Umsatz kletterte um gut acht Prozent auf erstmals mehr als zwölf
Milliarden Euro. Der Nettogewinn war mit 654 Millionen Euro mehr als fünfmal so
hoch wie 2013. Dieses Jahr soll der Umsatz ohne Einfluss von Währungseffekten
um fünf bis sieben Prozent zulegen, wovon Schaeffler erneut 12 bis 13 Prozent

Südkorea verhängt Strafe gegen japanische Autoteilehersteller
Die Kartellbehörde von Südkorea, die Fair Trade Commission, wird fünf
Autoteile-Hersteller mit einer Geldstrafe von insgesamt 3,5 Milliarden Won (3,2
Millionen Dollar) belegen. Hintergrund sind Absprachen bei Preisen und
Bieterverfahren für Motorenteile. Zu den betroffenen Unternehmen zählen die
japanischen Firmen Denso, NGK Spark Plug und deren lokale Divisionen. Es
handelt sich um die jüngste Strafe in einem weltweiten verstärkten Kampf gegen

Panasonic will Früchte der Restrukturierung ernten
Panasonic rechnet damit, dass der Gewinn im kommenden Geschäftsjahr auf das
höchste Niveau seit 2008 klettern wird. Dabei will der Konzern von der
Nachfrage nach seniorengerechten Wohnungen sowie Informations- und
Unterhaltungs-Systemen für Autos profitieren. Der operative Gewinn soll in den
zwölf Monaten ab dem 1. April auf 430 Milliarden Yen (3,6 Milliarden Dollar)
wachsen, wie der japanische Elektronikkonzern mitteilte. Dies wäre ein Plus von
23 Prozent verglichen mit den 350 Milliarden Yen, die Panasonic für das

Toyota Motor has outlined massive new savings in factory investment and vehicle
development. The Japanese automaker aims to achieve these cuts through an

Ford aims to triple exports from India
U.S. automaker Ford has invested one billion dollars in a new plant in India in
a bid to triple its exports from the country. Primarily compact cars like the
Ecosport SUV and the new Figo Aspire sedan are set to be manufactured at the
new plant in the western state of Gujarat, Ford CEO Mark Fields told
journalists. The new plant will almost double Ford's manufacturing capacity in
India to 610,000 engines and 440,000 vehicles, said Fields. The emerging market

Detroit Diesel to invest in plant upgrades
Detroit Diesel wants to upgrade its nearly 75-year-old manufacturing plant in
suburban Detroit. The producer of diesel engines is expected to invest 208
million dollars to add new machinery and equipment for a new medium-duty diesel
engine line, creating an anticipated 245 jobs. The Daimler subsidiary chose to
establish the new diesel engine line in Michigan over competing locations in

Schaeffler remains on growth course
Automotive supplier Schaeffler has substantially raised revenues and profits
last year. Revenues climbed by about eight percent, reaching more than 12
billion euros for the first time. With 654 million euros, net profits were more
than five times as high as in 2013. Revenues excluding currency effects are
expected to rise by five to seven percent this year, while Schaeffler again
aims to keep 12 to 13 percent of revenues as earnings before interest and taxes

South Korea fines Japan car parts suppliers
South Korea's antitrust regulator, the Fair Trade Commission, will fine five
auto parts companies, including Japan's Denso, NGK Spark Plug and their local
units, a total of 3.5 billion won (3.2 million dollars) for fixing prices and
rigging bids for engine parts. The regulator's fine is the latest in a global
crackdown on price-manipulation by automotive component manufacturers.

Panasonic to reap fruit of restructuring
Panasonic has forecast profit will climb to the highest level since 2008 in the
next fiscal year, helped by demand for retirement housing and car information
and entertainment systems. Operating income will jump to 430 billion yen (3.6
billion dollars) in the 12 months starting April 1, the Japanese electronics
group said. That will be a 23 percent jump from Panasonic's 350 billion yen
