Thanks Owen.
This is the problem:
" I am not yet in a position to share with you the outcome of discussions that
are taking place,"
What is not understood is that they will never solve the problem without being
accountable, because inherently complex problems cannot be solved centrally
without coercian or violence i.e. redundancy. Whilst at the same time we are
expected to be accountable for every penny, word and minute to them so much so
they spend more on people to do that than on the primary people. But are not
willing to be themselves.
I suggest at next meeting we give a date for a better response, note that we
are not asking for them to cook up new answers that will inevitably be crap, we
are telling them we need representation in making decisions, oherwise we will
escalate.
Thanks
Avi

Subject: Your Letter to the Vice-Chancellor & President of 25 April
Dear All
The Vice-Chancellor & President, Professor Karen Cox, has asked me to respond
to your letter of 25th April regarding a range of issues and proposals relating
to the position of Hourly Paid and GTA staff. You raise a very wide range of
issues in that letter – many of which are already under active consideration by
the University following the particular representations made during the recent
industrial action. I am not yet in a position to share with you the outcome
of discussions that are taking place, but will do so as soon as I can. You
also raise some particular proposals relating to the treatment of hourly paid
and GTA staff which, before I respond to these, require the advice of senior
operational management. For both these reasons, this note is simply by way of
an acknowledgement that your letter has been received and is receiving
attention. I will respond to you more fully as soon as I can.
I would be grateful if you will please pass on this letter to the other
signatories to your letter.
Best Regards, Alison
