Seems good to me and a joy to see all you young and active people taking this
on after 20 year being precarious! gill

Dear all: Ibi, Kat and I rewrote the letter on the basis of Friday’s
surprisingly cordial meeting with the VC. She may not mean it when she says
the goal is to move toward best practices, but she said it. Draft is in our
working docs folder. Please edit /comment if you want to by Monday so we can

Dear All, I would suggest there is some urgency to getting something to the VC,
in case we do need to move to local UCU industrial action re the pilot, or wish
to do so in support of wider precariat demands. Mike has explained that we need
some demands on record, so that we can then threaten to a move to a trade
dispute if not met, and then take industrial action in that dispute. That all
takes time, which the staff in the pilot currently do not have much of. Thus,
if there are particularly contentious points here, that we cannot all agree,
can we strip back to a more bare bones, basic principles that we do agree, and
that, if granted, would assist our staff both in the pilot and beyond? Or move
to even bigger demands, that cover all the bases? I believe our best industrial
action would be in defence of all the precariat, with the widest range of
demands (not only for the pilot) to get support from the widest range of the
branch and so that, if successful, we win the most for the whole branch. Best

Subject: [kentprecariat] Re: Letter to Karen Cox on precarious contracts Hello
again, Sorry I should have said yesterday Mike's letter is a decent place to
start to think about what we might ask for (fractionalisation, end zero-hours
etc) but it was just Mike's thoughts - we should definitely strategise around
the multiplier/ think more about it/ change it. His suggestion was to send it
off asap so we can maintain the momentum built during the strikes. We could
use it as a place to start in our next meeting maybe. Cheers,

off. Cheers, Claire
