Subject: EMS non transport Inforgraphic
I know we talked about non-transport last year. i pulled a few things from our
google drive that Erin set up last year and have attached the non-transport
guidance from FL but can't find what we decided for OR. i've also attached the
Crisis Standards of Care – Emergency Medical Service that was in the drive
also. Was this OR?
this was also in there:
"If the regional Medical Directors have decided to enact non-transport
guidelines based on indications when the healthcare and EMS infrastructure is
overwhelmed, hospitals are exceeding maximum census and/or have enacted surge
plans, and/or EDs are experiencing significant overcrowding. This protocol is
meant to align with Oregon Crisis Care Guidelines."
I know Marion county put out to not call 911 unless you have an emergency, but
do you have a written protocol for non-transport??? Did the state ever put
anything formally? When should we use the non-transport protocols? I feel we're
there, but are there specific benchmarks or indicators to implement this
non-transport protocol? ie/ hospital load or status.
I had 1 written last year but never put it out as there wasn't a surge. I
looked at the 1 from last year and 1 of the markers that says we should bring
you in to the hospital was fever. I don't agree w/ that. Also if you can't have
your own space to get better, shouldn't be a reason to be transported. That
should be a resource thing as hospitals have no beds to put you so you can
quarantine at the hospital until you get better. Being transported to the
hospital should be more concerning s/s ie/ CP/SOB w/ signs of brady/tachypnea,
or pulse ox <94% and VS abnormalities.
Thanks, Rebecca
