Take a look at the Kenwood TS570S. Excellent radio in the same price range, not
as new but tons of excellent reviews. I owned two and never had one bit of
trouble. As for the VHF the 271A is a good radio or look at the Icom V-8000.

Just my opinions.

I have an FT-450AT
Great rig with few menus so most of the functions are performed with on board
buttons.
IMO: a rig well worth the money.
you can check out my review on youtube.
At the time the rig was over 1K.  Now much cheaper.
Yes like any rig it does have some things I didn't like but they were minor.
I give the rig an 8/10.

I am very close to purchasing 2 replacement radios for my older units (an
FT-757GX and an Icom 27A 2 meter)

I was thinking of an Yaseu FT-450AT and maybe a Kenwood 271A

any complaints about these two?
or any comments about something better in the same dollar ballpark would be
appreciated.
