We call it the INDIARUBYCONSORTIUM(IRC). Many ask “when I have BRUG or Pune Ruby or Chennai.rb, etc., then why IRC?”. The reason was simple… to bring a system which can take up the best practices across the groups and promote them to other groups… for example… BangaloreRUG did a good BugMash a fortnight back… where as Pune Ruby and MumbaiRUG do hackfests and they have been doing it for a long time… Which is great and other groups should also implement them. Also as part of IRC, we had discussions on how to setup and run Ruby Users groups… We had discussions with people who showed interests in creating a group in Hyderabad and Trivandrum … and during this discussions we really Started the Ahmedabad Ruby and Rails Groups (http://groups.google.com/group/ahmedabad-ruby-on-rails-group). What others will we do as part of IRC? We shall provide a one stop directory to All Groups available for Ruby and Rails All Rubyists in the country All Ruby based activities / Events that take place in India Promote all the Open Source activities as contributed by Indians to the Ruby world Promote all the Websites built using Ruby on Rails by Indians and For Indians Educate people via Ruby/Rails monthly magazines Provide details about all training activities that take place in India So basically what we want to achieve is “BY THE RUBYISTS, FOR THE RUBYISTS AND OF THE RUBYISTS” SO I WOULD EXTEND A HEARTY INVITATION TO REGISTER TO WWW.INDIARUBYCONSORTIUM.COM and make one large RUBY Community. P.S: If you have built any website for Indians or built any open source product, then you can promote it in the IRC website (You have to be member first). Use the Contact-us form to send information. P.S: X-POSTED TO Chennai.rb, Keralarug, puneruby Thanks and Regards Satish Kota Moderator, INDIARUBYCONSORTIUM -- Regards, T.Shrinivasan My Life with GNU/Linux : http://goinggnu.wordpress.com Free/Open Source Jobs : http://fossjobs.in Get CollabNet Subversion Edge : http://www.collab.net/svnedge
