Yesterday's 'woman of the world' was daring and bold. Her face can be seen around the world, but it has been rejected by many because of its size and shape. She was an activist when women were supposed to raise children and bake bread. She pushed for the abolition of salvery, equal rights for all, and truly believed that drinking was a sin. She published a newspaper and was ridiculed throughout her life. She never married, but considered herself to be successful in reaching her goals. Who is this 'woman of the world?' Yesterday's 'woman of the world' was reformer Susan B. Anthony. Miss Anthony, whose face graces the silver dollar no one seems to like, was an abolitionist, educational reformer, labor activist, temperance worker, suffragist, and campaigner for women's rights. No "shrinking violet" when it came to expressing opinions, Miss Anthony was not the kind of woman that men wanted to meet. At the time, women were expected to stay home, keep house, raise children, and cook. Miss Anthony led a very exciting life without ever marrying or having children. To read more about Susan B.
