Dear Tomek,

I would like to participate. However, I want to tell you that Youth Energy
of Serbia is not still a registered organization. We are planning to
register it thus autumn. But we do act under an umbrella organization
called Urban Incubator Association, and we can use that organization as a
partnering organization. Would that be alright?

Regards,
TJ

Dear Tomek,
I appreciate your effort in the long mail, i do think its a great idea and
this will rose full participation of other alumni in WG activities if we
succeed, it will be a starting project for the network. I acknowledge
participation of Thumbs Up- Uganda.
Please as you did mention, time is short but since your friend Kasia is
also willing to help, we should give it a try. Let me know what information
you need from Thumbs Up.

Hi guys,

I went very extensively through the call for applications for the *Erasmus+
European Union funding*. It seems that the *Cooperation for Innovation
and the Exchange of Good Practices - Capacity Building in the field of
Youth* stream – is perfect for what we want to do with our network – as
it funds transnational partnerships which improve the quality and
recognition of youth work, non-formal learning and volunteering in
different regions of the world – notably in developing countries.

Only issue is that the application deadline is September 2nd 2015 which
is less than 3 weeks from today so we need someone experienced with this
programme to prepare an extensive proposal.

Kasia, my Polish friend with whom I did a few projects through my family
NGO - SolidarityFIlmDoc, got Erasmus+ funding previously. She is actually
the one who told me about this funding opportunity for our network and
would love to help us to get it! She could prepare a proposal and
coordinate the whole project, perhaps in cooperation with SolidarityFilmDoc
(in which I am currently the ‘kanthari plus project coordinator’)

To make the project work we would need to have:

1. *applicant/coordinating organization *- with experience in carrying
out international, EU funded projects – This could be Kasia’s NGO Fundacja
for Social Economic Development and my family’s SolidarityFilmDoc Foundation

2.*project partners* – here we should have around 3-6 partner
organizations (legally registered) who will be part of the kanthari alumni
network- from different European and outside of European countries. To
make it easier - I would suggest that it could be NGOs of working group
members:
- Tijana (Youth Energy Serbia),
- Jessica (Views International, Belgium),
- Samuel (Thumbs Up Uganda),
- Yoshi (Always Reading Caravan Thailand),
- Anja (Bats in Action, Brasil)
- David (which organization?, India)

In the proposal we would write that the above organizations are
grassroots, user led organizations who have a strong focus to develop
innovative solutions in one of the most marginalized communities in the
world.

3. *project idea *- it could be something like: ‘Strength through
Solidarity’ project which will use intercultural education, good practice
development and peer learning to build the capacity of an international
network of youth workers who introduce social innovations for youth with
fewer opportunities.

I met with Kasia and we thought of making a project which would use the
‘mobility of youth workers’ scheme to make a 18 months projects which could
fund our alumni network activities for that period! It could consist of:

- A two-week Training of Trainers for 15 youth workers from partner
organizations (which means us + some other graduates) and would consist of
intercultural education, peer support training and capacity building in the
fields of (organizational development, curriculum development,
environmental sustainability, community engagement, active citizenship,
exclusion/discrimination and other specialistic expertise in sensitive
areas such as rehabilitation of people with disabilities, victims of
physical, sexual violence) During the training a capacity building audit
would be conducted among the partners. This could take place somewhere in
Europe, maybe Poland.

- After the training the youth workers go back to their countries and
implement individual action plans to build their project’s capacity
through webinars and online mentoring. We would then organize peer
support/capacity building activities in our expert fields to other members
of alumni network and organize a regional capacity building training to
cascade their knowledge to them. We would become experts in what we feel
best in (for example: Jessica - peers support, Samuel - rehabilitation of
PWD, Yoshi - organizational development or anything else we choose). We
would also become experts in intercultural education and prepare a
publication at the end of the project. We would be paid for all the above
activities.

- As part of the project professional teleconferencing software, free
internet connection for all project partners and a high quality web portal
would be created with latest peer learning technologies and where the
intercultural content produced by the graduates would be displayed in
various languages in an accessible format. The intercultural education
content is intended to bring educational institutions on board of what the
network does!)

- At the end of the project we could make an approx. week long final
conference (maybe in Africa, as most network members come from there) where
the evaluation, publication of best practices, intercultural education
content and an awareness campaign would take place to mainstream the
findings of the project.

Sorry for the long email. But we need to act fast if we want to make it
work and write a quality proposal!

Please let me know what you think about the idea and if you want your
organizations to be part of it...

As we are really getting out of time, I am putting a deadline of Tuesday
noon (England time) for sending in your opinions and declarations of
participation.

Please share them by replying to this email or WG mailing list.

I really hope we can use this opportunity to build something we have all
been dreaming about!

Tomek
